In the spring, our team was strengthened by five audit trainees and one corporate transactions trainee.

Here is a summary of the highlights of the internship, the work involved, what was learned and what the plans are for the future.

Heta Laurila

1. How did you hear about / become a trainee at JTT?

I found JTT's job advertisement on social media. JTT caught my interest as a local operator. I also wanted to experience the busy spring audit season, and when I saw the advertisement, I decided to try my luck.

2. What has your work involved during the past spring?

My work has included auditing the bookkeeping, financial statements and administration of limited companies of different sizes, as well as preparing auditor reports under the supervision of authorised auditors. In addition to auditing limited companies, I have also had the opportunity to audit partnerships and participate in larger engagements alongside my other audit work.

3. The highlights and downsides of the season?

The best things about working as an audit assistant have been the straightforward attitude to getting things done and the continuous learning offered by the work. In the corporate team, I have become familiar with several industries and the operations of many different companies through audit work. The variety of the work has been extremely meaningful and educational, as every engagement is very different in its own way. During the past spring, I certainly haven't been short of things to do either.

4. What are your plans for the summer?

My summer continues with tasks in the banking sector, drafting my master's thesis and (hopefully) enjoying warm weather.

A big thank you to the entire JTT team for a rewarding spring! The warm atmosphere at the workplace has been a great source of motivation alongside the interesting work. It has also been a pleasure to see how readily colleagues have offered help, given advice and guided me forward in every situation. I have learned a great deal with the help of their tips. Thank you all!

Mimmi Ahtiainen

1. How did you hear about / become a trainee at JTT?

I heard about JTT through my student organisation, Optimi ry. Through it, I was able to attend case evenings, which sparked my interest in the company. Optimi ry also announced that the trainee position had opened.

2. What has your work involved during the past spring?

During the spring, I have mainly had the opportunity to audit housing companies. I have assisted the lead auditors in auditing the financial statements, bookkeeping and administration of housing companies.

3. The highlights and downsides of the season?

I have learned a lot during the internship, and towards the end of the season I have already been able to apply what I have learned in my work. I still learn something new every week! I was warmly welcomed into the team, and working has been meaningful both remotely and in person at the office.

4. What are your plans for the summer?

My summer continues with work in June and a holiday in July! I have a few trips planned and am eagerly waiting for good weather. There will be plenty of cycling in particular! Then in August, I'll move on to a new job.

5. The floor is yours....

It was truly inspiring to work with the JTT team, and I was never left alone with my work; there was always someone to ask for help. You receive plenty of feedback on your work, which helps you develop and is extremely useful for learning. I genuinely gained a lot of knowledge from the season and a clear picture of what audit work can be like. The team truly works together towards a common goal, and it was easy to become part of the group. I move forward with a positive attitude, enriched by a great work experience!

Markus Hyytinen

1. How did you hear about / become a trainee at JTT?

I was a trainee at JTT in spring 2025, when I had the opportunity to learn how to audit the bookkeeping, administration and financial statements of housing companies. The internship ended in May 2025, and I was left with a very positive impression of both the field and JTT as a company. For spring 2026, I was able to return to JTT to work as an audit assistant.

2. What has your work involved during the past spring?

My work has continued to include auditing the bookkeeping, administration and financial statements of housing companies. In addition, I was able to perform audits of limited companies and other types of entities. I also helped with onboarding new trainees and did my best to assist them with audit-related questions.

3. The highlights and downsides of the season?

The season passed quickly, and I gained a great deal of additional knowledge. Compared with my first spring as a trainee, I had more responsibility for completing audits, and this took my professional competence to a new level. One extremely positive thing about JTT is the pleasant colleagues, and the fact that help was always available when I needed it contributed to my development. Overall, the season was very meaningful and educational.

4. What are your plans for the summer?

My summer continues towards my next job. The summer weekends are beginning to fill up with all kinds of enjoyable summer activities. The weather has been favourable so far, so let's enjoy it...

Joonas Pitkänen

1. How did you hear about / become a trainee at JTT?

I first heard about JTT through my student organisation, Preemio, and that is also where the idea of applying to work here came from.

2. What has your work involved during the past spring?

During the past spring, my role involved assisting with corporate audits. I gained broad experience with various associations and limited companies. The clients being audited operated across a wide range of industries, so the audits provided many insights into the special characteristics of different fields. The work is independent, but help and advice are always available from more experienced colleagues when needed.

3. The highlights and downsides of the season?

JTT has a fantastic work community, and working here has been rewarding and has advanced my competence tremendously. I was given responsibility and trust right from the start, which supported my development considerably. I honestly cannot find any downsides to this experience.

4. What are your plans for the summer?

My summer continues with a holiday. It has been a long spring of work and studies, so the break is truly needed. A holiday trip to Greece also awaits in August.

Thank you for the past spring and for the trust you placed in me right from the start. You have an absolutely fantastic way of working here, with a suitably relaxed approach. My competence developed enormously thanks to this work experience. In terms of working methods and audit quality, you are light years ahead, at least compared with many local competitors in Kuopio. Have a very relaxing summer as the season starts to quieten down 😊

Roope Koistinen

1. How did you hear about / become a trainee at JTT?

I believe I sent an open application to JTT towards the end of 2024, but the trainees/assistants for the 2025 season had already been selected at that point. I was told that the next application period would be in autumn 2025, so I submitted a new application then and became a trainee at JTT for the 2026 season through the interview process.

2. What has your work involved during the past spring?

During the spring, I have had the opportunity to learn about auditing housing companies. The work has included assisting with audits of bookkeeping, administration and financial statements.

3. The highlights and downsides of the season?

The work community at JTT is definitely something worth highlighting; the team here is fantastic. I had no previous experience of audit work, so I was a little nervous at first about how things would get started, but I quickly realised that this was not a problem with this team. Help and advice for solving problems have always been available here.

4. What are your plans for the summer?

The spring audit season has passed really quickly, but now I think I'll take a short holiday and then move on to my next tasks.

Juho Ohtonen

1. How did you hear about / become a trainee at JTT?

I heard about JTT through my student organisation, Optimi.

2. What has your work involved during the past spring?

I have worked as a trainee in corporate transactions. The work has been varied, and I have been able to take part in different engagements and learn through practical experience.

3. The highlights and downsides of the season?

The definite highlights have been the varied tasks and the fact that I have been able to do real work and develop a great deal. There have not really been any downsides.

4. What are your plans for the summer?

My summer continues with working on my thesis and taking a holiday.

The internship has been a very positive experience and a good way to gain practical familiarity with the field. I can warmly recommend it to others!
